In November 2024, I had the pleasure of speaking at WordCamp Sofia, an event that’s always been a cornerstone of the Bulgarian WordPress community.
My talk, “Mastering the Art of WordPress: 13 Years of Advanced Tips and Tricks“, focused on sharing insights from my decade-plus experience with WordPress development.
During the session, I covered advanced techniques for theme and plugin development, performance optimization, and best practices for ensuring WordPress security. These are strategies I’ve refined through years of building, contributing, and working closely with WordPress.
I haven’t spoken on that stage for a few years now, as in the last instances of the conference I was either an organizer or a volunteer. But this year I decided to take a break from organizing and having serious work around it, but in the end, I went, applied and I was approved.
I pushed myself to combine and summarize my experience in less than 30 minutes. The initial variant of the presentation was with 80 slides, but since we had a short time cap, I had to leave out some pieces, shorten a few items, and still make a useful talk. I believe I did well. I’ve got positive comments and feedback, so I’m quite happy with how it went.
The best part? My wife and my kid were there for me. It was their first time seeing me on stage live, so this was simply the best feeling.
For anyone who couldn’t attend, the slides are available here: View the slides. A recording of the session will also be available soon, so stay tuned!
A huge thank you to the speakers, sponsors, organizers, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to making WordCamp Sofia 2024 a success. It’s events like these that remind me of the incredible power of community in the WordPress world.
If you’d like to discuss any of the topics from my presentation or have questions, feel free to drop a comment or reach out directly.
