After WordCamp Sofia 2013

I started this post few days after WordCamp Sofia, but I delay it for no reason for almost month.
I’m not going to do a review of whole event, because I was involved as volunteer and probably I won’t be objective. But what I can say is I’m still excited 🙂

This was my third WordCamp in Sofia and, in my opinion, it was the best so far. It was special for me for another reason.

I was a speaker for the first time

Yup, I had a session and it was my first talk in front of audience. The talk was called WordPress – From the start and it was for beginners, and hopefully, future WordPress users. In my presentation I tried to explain what is WordPress, what can do with WordPress and gave few examples of how to install WordPress using Famous 5 min install and software called Softaculous.

If I have to be honest, I was so nervous before and during the talk. In fact, I’m still nervous. I had prepared 4 or 5 piece of paper with notes slide by slide, but I never looked them. I tried to be focused and to not look too nervous and just to share what I had prepared to the people in the hall. I can’t say if I succeed, but I hope so. I received few positive feedback, but I’m sure I can do better in the future.

Speakers

This year we had several guest speakers and I want to thank you to all of them. It was pleasure to meet them in person. We spent several hours in our favourite Shisha Bar where we played Cards Against Humanity, had few drinks and talk about WordPress. What else do you need?

Brian Messenlehner, me, Marko Heijnen, Mario Peshev, Ivelina Dimova, Noel Tock, Joe Hoyle and Konstantin Kovshenin

I want to thank you to all organizers, sponsors, speakers, volunteers and especially to Mario Peshev for the great event. I had great time and looking forward for WordCamp Sofia 2014!
